Essentials 2025

Committed to decarbonising air travel

Promoting electric mobility

VINCI Airports continued its decarbonisation efforts in 2024 by ramping up the electrification of its service vehicle fleets and vehicles used by passengers. In France, over 800 electric charge points will be deployed and operated in car parks at Lyon-Saint Exupéry airport. This deployment will support the expansion of electric mobility, which can also be seen elsewhere in the network, including at London Gatwick in the United Kingdom and at Osaka Itami in Japan.

Collectively addressing Scope 3 emissions

In view of the European obligation to provide electricity to stationary aircraft at all contact stands (gates) by 2025 and at all remote stands by 2030, VINCI Airports launched an investment programme at its airports in Lisbon, Nantes and Lyon, receiving a one-off grant from the European Union. The aim is to offer an electric alternative to auxiliary power units (APUs) – supplementary engines that run on kerosene – to deliver power to aircraft on the ground without using kerosene, a source of CO2 emissions.

€200 million to be invested by VINCI Airports in APU OFF equipment-related works in France and Portugal by 2026
